Abstract

This research focused on investigating the effects of incorporating English songs into narrative text learning on students' speaking ability and motivation in learning English. The research employed an experimental design, manipulating the independent variable of using English songs in narrative text instruction and observing its influence on the dependent variables of students' speaking skills and motivation. The primary aim was to establish a cause-and-effect relationship between the instructional method and the learning outcomes. Drawing on diverse definitions of speaking, the research emphasized its pivotal role in information transmission and interpersonal interaction. The research aimed to address two main objectives: 1) Assessing the effectiveness of students' narrative text speaking ability following the integration of English songs, and 2) Analyzing the influence of English song integration on students' motivation in speaking narrative text. Utilizing techniques such as randomized controlled trials and factorial design, the experimental phase implemented narrative text learning both with and without English songs. Comprehensive data analysis quantified students' speaking ability and motivation levels before and after the intervention. In conclusion, this research established that the integration of English songs in narrative text instruction effectively enhanced students' speaking ability in English narratives and positively influenced their motivation to learn speaking English. By shedding light on innovative language teaching methods, this research contributed valuable insights to cultivate engaging and effective language learning environments.
