Abstract
Education a source of knowledge that provides a broad range of knowledge and was knowledge, skills, and experience to humans. This research is motivated by the problem of students' low reading enthusiasm and monotonous learning methods in English lessons in class which affect student achievement. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of applying the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method to student reading achievement and describe how it applied the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method to students' reading achievement. This research used mixed methods (mixture). The sample of this research was the eighth graders of MTs Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Sukosewu, consisting of 28 students. The research instruments were observation and interviews to find out information descriptively, while tests were used to measure students' abilities. The results showed that there were several differences before and after the implementation of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method in learning English. This is evidenced by the value of the parametric test of 0.000 <α 0.05 which can be interpreted that there is a significant effect between before and after the application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method on students' reading achievement.
