AN ERROR ANALYSIS OF USING SIMPLE PAST TENSE IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXT DURING ONLINE LEARNING

One of the most significant factors influencing human life and civilization is language. Since language is the primary means of communication, it plays a significant part in human life. Language is the verbal or written expression of words, word groups, phrases, and sentences as a means of communication. Researchers have the desire to examine what causes these errors as well as the factors. The researchers conducted research at the institute. Based on the experience above, the researcher interest to conduct this research to analyze their writing errors and find the source of the errors that lead to errors in writing recount text because writing is important especially academic writing. After the researcher completed this study, the researcher hopes that the results of this study will contribute to the teaching and learning process in English, especially in writing recount text. In this case, the researcher uses qualitative research design. After conducted the test, the researcher analyzed and classified into three types such as omission, misformation, and misordering. This test held by online test by using google form with the ten of participants. The common also the highest errors that made by the students during writing recount text is misformation as amount 73%. Misformation is one of types of error that refers to the grammatical structure, besides analyzed the common the researcher also analyzed the general. For the general errors is amount 49% which is the errors is punctuation.
