Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out vocabulary learning by using word wall media. However, based on observations made at SMP Unggulan Al Falah Bojonegoro, the researcher found students had limited English vocabulary and a lack of enthusiasm for learning English vocabulary. One of the media to improve students' vocabulary mastery was to use Wordwall media. The problems raised in the study are (1) is there any influence of wordwall media on students' vocabulary mastery in class VII SMP Unggulan Al Falah (2) how is the application of wordwall media in teaching vocabulary by English teachers? The method used in this research is the mixing method. To answer the first question the researcher used data analysis techniques using a pre- test and post-test with a total of 48 students. Then to answer the second question the researcher conducted observations and interviews. The results of this research showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental class which has a post- test value of 80.40 using Wordwall media and the control class which has a post- test value of 56.92 using conventional methods. And the effect size calculation carried out was 0.73 where the interpretation is very large so that the use of wordwall media has a big influence on students’ vocabulary mastery in learning English. Then the results of observations and interviews conducted after the application of wordwall media show that the vocabulary learning process can improve vocabulary skills and students' enthusiasm for learning. While the results of data analysis get results 0.000 < 0.05 this shows that the alternative hypothesis (H.) is accepted and (Ho) is rejected, which means that there is a significant difference that occurs after using word wall media.
