Abstract

The purpose of this research are to describe English Teacher’s Professional Competence on Lesson Plan Design, teaching reflection, and the problems related to it. The researcher used descriptive qualitative approaches to get the data through observation, deep interview, and documentation. Two English teachers were the subject of this research. The first result of English teacher’s professional competence on lesson plan were:1) Able to design competency standard and basic competencies of the subject, 2) be able to include appropriate and up to date information in making lesson plan and implement the lesson plan, 3) Capable to compile materials (plan, implement learning, and give up to date information), 4) Could apply continuous professional development program (Pengembangan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan) experience in planning, implementing, and assessing the learning, 5) Utilize an ICT in communicating and implementing continuous professional developmet program (Pengembangan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan). The second were the result of English teacher’s professional competence on teaching reflection:1) Conduct self-evaluations specifically, completely, and supported by examples of their own experiences, 2) Having the journal learning and assessment results of the learning process, 3) Utilizing the performance description to develop planning and implementing of further learning in the process of PKB (Pengembangan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan) (Pengembangan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan) program, 4) Participate in scientific activities (e.g. seminars, conferences), and the teachers are active in implementing the result of PKB (Pengembangan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan). The problems which related to the professional competence of English teachers were:1) Lack of experience on doing scintific research, 2) Inedaquate tools and facilities limitation in using internet access that caused the problem when participating PKB (Pengembangan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan) on the school which was lesson plan checking.
