Abstract

Due to pandemic Covid-19 all the teaching learning activity was stopped, including activities at the university level. One of the affected course is microteaching, previously microteaching done by offline should shifted into online mode. Microteaching is one of the compulsory subject for education students to practice their teaching ability. This research aims to analyze English students’ experiences and find out the challenges on teaching practice in online microteaching subject. Experiences is something that related with persons’ memories. Type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The research was carried out with 31 pre-service English teachers at Nahdlatul Ulama Sunan Giri University in eight semesters. An interview guideline with 10 questions was employed in order to determine students’ experiences. The second instrument was a closed questionnaire consisted of 28 statements by online. The result showed that most respondents interviewed admitted that teaching practice in online microteaching difficult, less effective and many challenges. The questionnaire finding was support there are 9,7% survey respondents were strongly agreed, 35,5% were agreed and 35,5% neutral that teaching practice in online microteaching not comfort. It means that pre-service English teachers dominant have negative experiences during teaching practice in online microteaching class.
