Abstract
Mathematical communication ability is an essential aspect of PISA. By following the PISA program, developed countries can improve the quality of education. This study aims to describe students' mathematical communication abilities using the PISA model questions. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Bojonegoro, taking ninth-grade subjects. Subjects in this study were determined by purposive sampling technique while collecting data using test and interview techniques. Data analysis in this study is qualitative data analysis, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification. Furthermore, to check the validity of the data in this study using a triangulation method, namely comparing the results of student answers with the results of interviews. The results of this study indicate that students' mathematical communication skills through PISA questions still need to improve. It is because students are used to routine questions rather than non-routine questions such as PISA questions. Uncertainty and Data content questions and Quantity content questions get the largest percentage of errors from students.
