Abstract

This research is intended to find out if there is any improvement in the quality of the learning process related to the material of writing explanatory texts with the use of audiovisual media. It also aims to explore the quality improvement in learning that leads to an increase in student academic scores through the use of this media. This research is an action classroom research (CAR). Questionnaires, field observation records, interview transcripts, and triangulation tests consisting of written tests and interviews were used to collect and analyze data. In addition to teacher observations, the researcher also observed student learning. According to the observations during two cycles, the student results were 67.25% in the first period. The results in the second period increased. By the end of the first period, students' skills in writing explanatory texts had improved compared to the pre-research stage. The average student score for explanatory text writing is 74.61 with a success rate of 69.23%. At the end of the final explanatory text period, the average student score is 84.42 with a success rate of 88.46%.
