Abstract

This research aims to analyze the student’s difficulties in translation, the students process in translation, and the students’ reason have difficult in translating English articles’ abstract to Indonesian which had analyzed from students at eight semester of English Language Education Study Program at Nadhlatul Ulama Sunan Giri Bojonegoro year 2021/2022. The research used quantitative descriptive method to describe the detail of the students’ difficulties and the students’ process in translating English articles’ abstract to Indonesian. In this study, researcher took sample was 27 students at eight semesters of English Language Education Study Program. To find out the result of analyzed that had conducted and to describe the student’s difficulties, researcher reading first the text, calculating data result, analyzing, writing and concluding the students score of the translation. The instrument of this research is the test, interview and reflective journal. From 27 students, it is known that the students' ability in translating is still at the standard level, stated in the percentage of 66,6% of students who are still at the good level. In the translation process, students translate with a process that is in accordance with the theory, where they translate through the process of analysis, transfer and then restructuring. Meanwhile, in the factors that cause students to translate, it was found that students are still lacking in mastery of vocabulary and grammar. Besides that, students also have difficulty in translating even though they know the meaning of the words they are translating, as well as about idioms, students also find it difficult to translate. It can be concluded that students difficult in translating articles’ abstract to Indonesian caused by linguistic factor and non-linguistic factor.
