Abstract

Writing is difficult skill to acquire for human. This research aims to find out the strategies that used by the writers to helps difficulties most of people in writing. This research used narrative inquiry method, to retell the writers’ personal experience. The instrument of this research was interview of participants to find out the writing strategies that used by the participants. The second instrument was reflective journal that write by the participants about their experience when write a books. Participants of this research was university students, who have been create and published book. They still in 4 semester, but they ever follow writing class in outside university start they in first semester till could published book. The participants was start write book from determine theme and topic, then create an idea and develop idea become sentence. Besides that, they need quite place to write their book. It is called metacognitive strategy to write their books. One of this participant using someone story to retell in her book. But, one of them just used her mind to find out idea. They also felt happy and enjoy during write their book. After their book have been published their spirit was burn up to create next book again.
