Abstract

The conventional selection of extracurricular activities often leads to a mismatch between students' choices and their actual interests and potential. This study aims to determine the results of extracurricular activity recommendations at SMAN 4 Bojonegoro using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) and Weighted Product (WP) methods, as well as to analyze the comparison of ranking results between the two methods. This research is an applied quantitative study. The research sample consists of 5 main extracurricular activity alternatives (Scouts/Pramuka, PMR, PBB, Karawitan, and Dewan Ambalan) selected through purposive sampling from a population of 29 extracurriculars. Evaluation criteria include student interest (C₁), talent (C₂), time availability (C₃), cost (C₄), facilities (C₅), and achievement (C₆). Data were collected through observations, interviews, school documents, and a Likert-scale questionnaire to determine criteria weights. Data analysis was systematically calculated using MATLAB software. The results showed that the application of the SAW method produced preference values as follows: PMR (1.0000), Dewan Ambalan (0.9323), PBB (0.9034), Karawitan (0.9001), and Pramuka (0.8957). On the other hand, the WP method yielded preference values of: PMR (0.2082), Dewan Ambalan (0.2034), PBB (0.1970), Karawitan (0.1961), and Pramuka (0.1954). Comparison of both methods demonstrated an identical ranking consistency (100% match), with Red Cross Youth (PMR) emerging as the top-recommended alternative. This study concludes that both SAW and WP methods are highly effective and reliable for implementation in decision support systems for extracurricular activity recommendations.
