Abstract
This study was motivated by the importance of social support in promoting students' psychological development, particularly in the formation of self-concept and emotional intelligence. Social support provided by parents, teachers, peers, and the school environment is believed to enhance students' self-confidence, their ability to recognize their own potential, and their capacity to manage emotions effectively. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the influence of social support on the self concept and emotional intelligence of students at Darussalam Baureno Junior High School. This study employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto research design. The population consisted of all students at Darussalam Baureno Junior High School, with a sample of 80 students. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination. The findings revealed that social support had a positive and significant effect on students' self-concept, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and an R Square value of 0.914. Furthermore, social support also had a positive and significant effect on emotional intelligence, with a regression coefficient of 1.030, a t-value of 22.182, a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, and an R Square value of 0.863. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that social support has a positive and significant influence on the self-concept and emotional intelligence of students at Darussalam Baureno Junior High School. The higher the level of social support received by students, the more positive their self-concept and the better their emotional intelligence. Therefore, schools, teachers, parents, and the surrounding community are expected to provide optimal social support to foster students' psychological development and enhance their academic success.
